GWAS Short & Sweet - week beginning October 3, 2011

SimplyBreakfast.blogspot.co
This week's agenda: one lecture to deliver, three tutorials to conduct, oodles of papers to mark, many emails to filter through, new posts to write, thoughts to nurture, video to edit, interviews to transcribe.
The Word for the Week: "He who walks with wise men will be wise..." (Proverbs 13:20)
Quote of the Week:
"There's nothing we like better
than a noble failure. It’s deeply reassuring to a trading nation such as my own." - Father Altamirano to Father Gabriel, The Mission.
Dictionary.com Word of the Day (Friday, September 30, 2011): votary \VOH-tuh-ree\, noun:
1. One who is devoted, given, or addicted to some particular pursuit, subject, study, or way of life.
2. A devoted admirer.
3. A devout adherent of a religion or cult.
4. A dedicated believer or advocate.
"Will Hopoate is an exemplary votary of the Mormon faith."

The Breakfast Club: Today, I had mounds of butter and strawberry jam on fruit toast with a soy flat white. Jennifer Causey's left-over Plum Galette looks more appetizing! Keep eyes peeled for a Simply Breakfast 2012 calendar! On that note: "keeping your eyes peeled" is an expression pertaining to removing that which might impede your vision – ironic given the return of 'Short & Sweet' this week, but wonderful given its spiritual connotations: removing impediments to serving others is part of what life is all about. A hearty breakfast helps. I hope you enjoy your week!
